You guy's need to get some motorcycle gear, 12v that is. I got a jacket from Whitehorse Gear in NH. Heated Apparel - Electrically Heated Gear - Apparel - Whitehorse Gear They are close to me & the guy there actually talked me out of the pant's & gloves. He said to start with the jacket and by keeping your "core" warm really makes a big difference, and pant's, gloves, socks, can all be added later if needed. He was right and saved me at least $100. Good honest folks there that I think are primarily a mail order outfit but do have a nice showroom. This runs off the tractor 12v system and has a controller to adjust the heating level. I plow a small route of about 25 driveways for a friend and it takes about 5 hours. I have not found that I need the pants, gloves, etc. I have about $250 into the jacket, some connecting wires & the controller and I feel that was well spent money. 95% of the (year) time I'm in the woods with my tractor and hopping on & off and for my use, I'd destroy a cab in a hurry.
I ride my Bike all year. I have a heated Vest that goes under my jacket. That works very well. I also got gloves (Gerbings) . At 55 MPH you need more finger protection then at plowing speeds. They are life savers.

There is no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing.

Sometimes it is appropriate to wear a cab; sometimes I wear the house.

That's great! I'm putting that on a Tee Shirt

My snow weapon. This is my first winter using it with the plow. So far we had two plowable storms, and each has been kind of a shakedown run. For some reason (likely an adjustment I screwed up when I rebuilt the hydraulics) the 3pt hitch will drop, then get stuck in the down position until I remove the side cover and manually press the control valve. After that, it works fine. Anyway, pics:

My M7040, HLA 3000 8' and Erskine 901 RP. No chains yet but might put them on today, it's nice and warm. Naw, I'll wait til it's 5 below and snowing.

Man you are ready with that rig. You might not need chains, but they really are more fun to install when your hands are frozen and it's 5 below. Welcome to TBN

neogakai
That is a nice rig.. and I think I'd only chain up the front wheels.
Do you plow a berm to the center of road with the front blade and then straddle it to blow it off?

Where are you located? (hint: can add that to your profile).

And :welcome: to TBN

I'm in Vermont. It's too narrow a road to do that although I've thought about pushing it to one side in a pass and blowing that. There are places around the house it's hard to use the blower without hitting the cars, the windows or both so I use the plow. Also after I got the blower I was thinking what else can I get... and you know how that goes. I have spiked logging chains for the back and only really need them on the few days when the big hill we plow is a skating rink. But you never know when that will be.

For your snow blower you may want to consider adding a hydraulic cylinder on that deflector, really allows you to put the snow where you need to and opens up many of those tight spaces to blowing. Wouldn't be hard at all, that deflector is pretty much setup for it.

I added a longer deflector and a cylinder a few years ago and now I think it's almost as important as the chute rotation itself for usefulness. You can blow the snow down to the ground within 10-12 feet of the blower if setup right. This not only helpful in tight spaces but also when the wind is not in your favor, the farther you point the deflector down the less of a factor the wind is.
