I picked up a lightly used spreader and with the quick attach I can quickly change out the rear blade with the spreader. The controller changes the speed, blast and turns on the vibrator. I threw it on to spread a "magic salt" to pretreat before the storm coming in overnight and didn't pull up the rops before connecting.

Ya, it's a small scut but serves me well.

Took these pics yesterday, getting ready for this years first snow tonight.

Woodmaxx SB84 in the rear and a BOSS TGS300 on the front via a Titan pallet forks mount.

Our driveway is relatively short, 330 feet, but I like my toys.

Got 6 inches last night. Spent 1:45 clearing it this morning. My goal is to do it well enough that when the plow goes by, he has nothing left to dump in my driveway, so I clear about 75 feet of the road off to my left.

LOL
I have been doing that for a number of years as I hate to re clean the drive entrance.
\Since I have a deep ditch B4 my drive I always make a few openings in the snow bank so his plow empties B4 getting to my drive.

Pix, I thought you were a "snow bird"?

I have been heading to Florida for 4 months each year but the in laws are 89 and 93 this year and we can't leave them anymore and 4 months is too long :) to take them so we're only going for the month of February. It'll be the first year we'll be up here for the months of Jan. and March. Should prove interesting with the steep driveway and road I have.

Thanks! the plow was taken off of an f250 and rebuilt since it was in rough shape. To mount it to the tractor i just cut the truck mount up a little and welded it to a piece of 1/2" plate that bolts to the front and made some strut bars that go under the axle and bolt to the FEL mount. we use westerns on the trucks but the mounts are too wide to fit between the tractor tires so i used this curtis instead. Im not sure yet if i'll keep it electric or switch it to work off the FEL hydraulics. This setup is kind of an experiment so i wanted to keep the plow original in case we decide to sell it and go a different direction like a fel mounted blade. I built the ballast box instead of buying one because i wanted to tuck it as close to the tractor as possible and i wanted to build in a storage area.

I had a meyer c8 I was going to put on my tractor but I decided to sell it and find something nicer. I may get another plow and make a FEL mounted plow.

I think running the plow off of the tractors hydraulics would be best. The charging systems are not much on these tractors and the tractors hydraulic system would be more reliable. You could buy or make a SSQA and weld mounts on it so you could use the same plow on the loader.

I really like how you kept the ballast box close to the tractor. I've been thinking about doing the same thing, except I was going to use concrete. You have a nice compact setup for moving snow with the frame mounted flow and your ballast box. Then with the tight turning radius these Kubtoas have, I bet it works great.

On my ballast box, I need to drop it off quick to put on the forks for moving pallets of wood into the garage.. about once a week.
The 3 ph quick hitch serves the purpose.. very well. At most, 10 minutes to drop the ballast, pick up the forks, move the wood pallet, and get the ballast back on for parking in the shed. When 10 below and the wind blowing, that is precious time to save. ;)
Have a 7' western plow on the front, and it is a quick mount.. tip the bracket up and two bolts through the front weigh bracket to secure.
Some real neat snow moving machines around. We just had our first real snow with about 6". Saying we are to get 12-13 this coming Friday. We'll see...

I am surprised to see so many salt spreaders.
When I lived in New England,,, all of the neighbors acted like they were proud of the compacted snow base that was maintained on the driveway.
The town (Wilmington MA) maintained the roads the same way,,, there was a compacted snow layer all winter.

That was in the early 1980's,,, I was told it was done so as to not kill the grass with salt.

Have times changed? :confused2:

Do they salt the roads and driveways in town now?

They did do the interstates,,, but, that was IT!

I'll jump in here and give my opinion.

Do they salt town roads? Depends on the town and if they have any steep inclines. In NH most towns do salt but try to keep it to a minimum when close to the lakes.

I personally have a driveway that intimidates some delivery folks so salt and sand is a must for me.

I don't salt but having the ability to sand quickly after a wet snow that freezes would be nice. If the driveway turns icy then not even good winter tires will help
