These don't compete with the Pacific coast trees, but they are large Douglas fir for the interior west. This grove of large Douglas fir is found on the Coronado National Forest in southern Arizona. The large ponderosa pine that I'm measuring is from the Jemez Mountains in New Mexico (Santa Fe National Forest).

My town had 3 humongous cotton wood trees, but the Derecho destroyed them in August 2020. The biggest one still had a ~40' tall stump. It took some time before the city found someone with large enough equipment to cut it down safely
