My TC40D was one of the first units manufactured. I traded it due to the Transmission Recall. At the time I got my letter I had less than 75 hours on it. With the help of my Dealer and the Factory NH Rep, I got to trade it by paying the difference in price, at cost, between a 2000 40D and the 2001 TC45D. I also had to pay $10.00 per hour for the use on the 40D. The whole deal came to about a $2500 difference. They had my 40D sold before I delivered it to them when the 45D came in. I did not want a tractor with less than 100 hours that had the case split and torn down and put back together in a dealers shop. With my minimal use it may have taken 2 or more years for a problem to show up. It also gave me the chance to get 5 more HP on the same size platform, add some accessories, and get the new color. I am sure the dealer had to eat a little profit but worth it to them because I had bought 2 new tractors from them, 3 or 4 implements and sold 2 more tractors from my personal reference out of their trade territory to friends of mine. I even delivered one of the tractors for them. They were going to make me happy regardless of what NH did. The bucket was my only disappointment but I think that will be outweighed by the Quick Attach and the forks. I used them yesterday to unload a 500 Gallon underground Propane tank. The forks sure made it easy. You are right about the cutting edge, would not have a bucket without one.
