Those chains are impressive looking! The hydraulics don't show very well in the shadows of the photo. How about a close up?

this picture is basically a question i was going to post.. i ask because in NH we recieved 2 feet of snowa couple of weeka go.. i had a thin layer of ice underneath the snow and boy did i have problems. i actually got my l3000dt stuck a few times and had alot of traction problems.. i was so upset i was thinking of buying a bigger heavier machine like the new l4300dt or even a 4610 or chucke chuckle a m47... but then i thought hell i have plenty of power i need more traction. do them chains do a really help that much with the traction? and whatis their drawbacks??? also i was thinking of stepping up to a hydraulic rear blade and get rid of standard angle blade... i wonder how big of a blade i could get away with on the l3000dt, right now i havea 6 foot blade and would like to go to atleast a 7 or 8. what does that hydraulic setup cost? and would i have a problem adding a remote valve on my l3000??? thanks in advance..

The chains help a LOT! Notice I'm running Ag tires. With Ags, the conventional ladder-type chains tend to drop between the lugs where they do no good at all. These Norse chains are a smaller version of skidder chains. The drawbacks are (1) they are about 135# each, so getting them on requires finesse, and (2) those ice lugs tear the heck out of asphalt! That's not a problem at my house since the nearest asphalt is half a mile down the hill.

I considered a 7 or 8' blade, but since I move a lot of dirt in the thawed out months I decided to stick with a 6 footer. The rear hydraulics (remote, hoses, cylinder installed) ran me about $700 give or take. Not familiar with the 3000DT, so can't offer any advice there.
