Oh man Tom,
That barn is looking great. You've got a lot done on it now.
I remember when we first met over coffee and you showed me the drawings of it. Now to see it come to life is awesome.
You've still got the living quarters and bathroom designed in it, right? Are you gonna move up there soon and work out of it then? When are you going to start the house?
Great pictures too!

I agree, the more you do on it, the less I see a barn and the more I see a home. Either this is going to be the home of some very well cared for horses, or you're just fooling with us when you call it a barn?  :D :)

Is it for animals? A workshop? or is it a house to live in?

Eddie

Yes. It's a barn. A western style barn exactly like the picture in my 1st post on this thread. I followed the plan from a book I got from amazon.com

Amazon.com: Small Barn Plans for Owner-Builders: Books: Craig Wallin

I beef it up a little with 50 yards of concrete, 2x6 wall stud 16"OC, Bigger gluelam beams, more windows, a bathroom, house wrap, Hardie plank siding and roof trusses. Notice the construction site was so clean with hardly any lumber waste. The dimension is in multiple of 4's. It was build with standard dimension lumber with very little on-site cutting. The whole thing put together like a pre-fab building.

Rob: It has a bathroom but no living quarter. We still working on the house plan. The 5th wheel is quite comfortable for the two of us just on weekends. You still got a copy of that plan right? When do you want to start on yours? With all your toys, you can use another barn/shop.... Let me know when do you want me to come over the help build yours....

Eddie: No animal but a herd of mechanical horses that feed on diesel and gas...:D:D:D

More progress. Almost done... except for paint sprayer broke after using it for about 5 minutes. I spent all day trying to fix it but no luck. I guess we have to waint until the next trip. Can rent a paint sprayer in the middle of nowhere.... Here's a few pictures.

The barn is looking good. Are you planning to put a deck on the front with a wide stair case for bringing items up and down from the loft?

Tom,
Great progress you made.
I guess the weather must have let down enough to get that much done. I know you said it had been raining up there a lot. Your barn looks fantastic!

When are you going to start the house? How are your roads holding up?

Thanks Rob. We got everything done to the point it's weather tight. I have to stop and not build the deck until next spring. (lumber company not willing to deliver ...) The road in my property is fine. However, the road getting there is really really bad. Lots of water. I need to figure out that's wrong with my dozer. It has it's own mind and didn't like to make left turns. Something wrong with the steering... We're still in the planning stage for the house. We couldn't decide between going with a log home or a different architectural style.

WOW nice looking barn and great craftsmanship. To heck with the horses, even tractors need a nice warm place with a full bath!
