Barn that got fixed up across the road from me. My land came from this farm.

Must be a 10 picture limit, the ones of the roof replacement didn't get uploaded. Not looking for them again right now.

..Who has shot hoops while trying to bounce the ball on dirt and gravel?
I have.

Back in Grade school I wanted to play basketball so I wanted a hoop at home. Dad cut a fairly straight tree down (Cedar I think it was), trimmed it up and dug a hole for it, set it, mounted a cheap backboard and hoop. It wasn't perfect height or level after a few months but it was good enough.

And IIRC, had to shovel some cow patties out of the way initially! :)

My dad had to bump our hoop up to 11 feet to keep me from dunking. ;)

My barn of the day. One thing I often look at is how original a barn is. This one still has its lighting rods and the shutters for the top floor, which I always assumed let air in to ventilate the hay loft. By the looks of it the grain bins don’t get used anymore and I bet the large propane tank ran grain dryers at one time.

Their Son built a traditional house, in the background.

His house was modest log house. My wife in blue jacket.
I'm a little disappointed in the house. My way of thinking would be to make my home the nicer place, but I guess that I understand that some people feel that their barn should be the nicer place.

This one isn’t to far from my in-laws house, I can remember a house trailer here and I’m pretty sure there was a house at one time. The place has been overgrow for years but kids are welcome, there is still a swing set.

Growing up in rural Oklahoma in the 50's, that wasn't unusual at all. I also saw a lot of hoops on the front of the barn, provided the barn was near the house. In those days, basketball was the most attended sport, especially in rural areas where facilities were at a premium and student attendance was low (we had about 75 in our whole high school).

I have seen a lot of basketball hoops inside the upper level of the bank barns around here. Usually right near the door because that was the most commonly open place and had the best light.
