Here are the pics I promised of the food plot I did.....I bush hogged it first, than used a 14" bottom plow to flip the sod over, than used my Kuhn tiller. I tilled it twice and it came out beautiful. The soil was wet but I had no choice but to get it done that weekend. Than I used a seeder to seed it and ran over it with my quad. I will be there next weeked and see if I have any growth

My brother is the guy seeding, my dad is supervising, and I am in the cab in HEAVEN! :D

Thanks to everyone on TBN for the help.

Here's a video of the plow in action...

You did a nice job of turning the ground over and it looks like good soil.
What are you planting in the food plot?

Nice pictures & video!

That's some nice looking dirt... Your food-plot should turn out great.

Looks like your brother had the rough job:D

They make an "aerator seeder" for an ATV or a riding mower...I have one of them & they really do a great job....I also have one for my tractor.

I like the one for my ATV because i can take it up in the mountains to seed my food-plot, because i can't get my tractor up the very steep mountains.... and i wouldn't want to try it.

On the one for my ATV, it has transport wheels that let down so you can take it down the blacktop if needed.

*Something you might want to plant a row of in you food-plot in "turnips".....The deer really love them, and they stay through the winter... When the frost hits the "turnips" it makes them sweet to the deer.... and turnip seed is very low cost, and the seed is small & goes along way... You could put a row on the outside of whatever else you plant...I plant them in different locations for the deer.

The turnips like cool weather, and last year in late August we planted a row in our garden for us to eat...That was a mistake, because the deer started jumping our chain-link fence to get the turnips.... and the deer stayed in our garden all winter digging for the turnips.
The ones in our garden lasted from late August of last year..to spring of this year until i pulled what was left up:D.....and the ones that was left had new growth coming on them this year.... With our garden this year the deer are still jumping the fence looking for the turnips.

Once in a bass-pro shop store i picked up a bag of food-plot seed, and read the different kinds of seed in the bag... When i come home i looked up some of the names on the web, and some of it is turnips...BUT..they just put another name for it, and it's not like the turnips that you would put in a garden to eat.

*I just thought i would mention the turnips for you to try.

Nice pictures & Thanks for sharing!!!

Beautiful setting. It looks like you could make a living farming that land it's so flat and the soil looks so rich.

I got a laugh out of seeing that really nice tractor with a cab and tiller, which cost a fair amount, and then seeing what you use for spreading the seed. I'm the same way, I'd love to have a fancy seed spreader, but just find other things to spend money on. One day I'll get one, but for now, I use what I have.

Good luck with the food plot. I'd love to see some pics of deer feeding on it and even better if you get a buck!!!

Thanks Eddie......Its the first time I seeded anything, but next year I am buying the seeder I can pull with my ATV, especially if the food plot this year works out!

I am a sucker for good farm equiptment, but between the 600 on the plow and 3000 on the tiller, the seeder wasnt that important for less than an acre.....

How did the tiller do with the root mass in the sod? I'd figure you had go real slow.

Not as slow as you think.....About 3-4 MPH, and I did it twice so it came out nice and level........Just had to be careful for any big rocks, but the sod was mulched up good.....Almost zero grass was visible
