Pickup Box Trailer Payload Rating

Is a quality built PU box trailer payload the same as the donor truck it came from when hooked to a comparable sized tow pickup? Thanks.

Capacity pretty much boils down to spring rate and more importantly the tires' load rating/limits, much like the specs for the vehicle the box came from if you use enough of that.

You might get a 'surge' coupler (Atwood, Dico, etc) to work with a pickup truck's OEM 'wet' brakes.
