Picked up my EA shipment

I'm curious why you didn't buy all your equipment through a local dealer?

A "local dealer"??
Nearest one, at least 150 miles away, and then limited to his brand/inventory.

Sounds like you have found a company to stick with! Good for Blains!

Brett

I am not knocking EA products. I have repeatedly heard that they do make good stuff.
Just stating that EA "free shipping" is advertised as such, but is not really free!
When purchasing an identical (KK) product, a much higher EA shipping cost matters to me.

I was offered lift gate service, for and extra $125 (I think).
Now that I have it all home, I don't see how a guy with a lift gate and a pallet jack could possibly unload that tiller or cultipacker by himself.
My 68 HP tractor with 60" forks barely picked those up. Granted, I had to pick them up from the end because that is the only way they would fit on the trailer.
I know I wouldn't want to be the poor schmuck that had to unload those off a truck by myself.

I had several tons of rubber mulch delivered on pallets. One guy did the deliver, one ton to the pallet. No problems. They do it all day long.

This is my copied reply from January of 2016. Same subject, same person...deja vu.

We have huge buying power with some manufacturers, but King Kutter is really the only one in which we do not.
Rural King, Agri Supply and Farm&Fleet has a clientele that focuses more on price than quality, so their buying power with KK is much greater than ours.
Their KK selling prices are very close to the price that we pay for the same attachments from KK.
We are shipping single attachments from the factory directly to the customer, which adds an immediate 7%.
The big box stores have their own distribution system with warehouses throughout the country which allows them to use their company trucks to get the products anywhere they need at almost no additional cost to them.
We are not receiving a truckload discount, which adds at least an additional 7+%, however we aren't really sure what the big corporations can buy them for.
This isn't downing their way of doing business. Fact is, we just do not have that business profile.
Do I blame you for buying that tiller elsewhere? No.

King kutter does not make a bad product. They are dependable, but they lack some characteristics that are really important to us and to our internet customers.

We do not make a tiller at this time, so we do not have anything that directly compares to their tiller. If we did make a tiller, it would be more like the imported tillers on the market, which feature C shaped tines instead of the flat, L shaped tines.

We are a manufacturer with an owner who has been around attachments his whole life. He's bought, used, sold and talked about the best and worst available attachments on the market for decades.
Ted knows the industry. When he purchases something, he demands the best and his mentality is reflected in our business.
Our attachments are designed with quality and value in mind. We do not cut corners to cut the price. Cheaper is out there, but for the dollar, the EA attachments are simply the best.

We do not have dealers or distributors. If someone purchases an EA Attachment, it is personal. We speak to our customers on the phone. We recommend the best fit for their tractor and application.
If there is a problem with ANYTHING that we make or sell, the customer reports directly to us. We go above and beyond if something needs addressing.
We listen to feedback and truly care about the perception of our business and what our customers think about the products that we produce.

I hope this sheds some light on the situation.
Travis

The farm stores here carry King Kutter. I looked at them, but I wasn't impressed. They were considerably cheaper than what I ultimately bought.
At this point in my life, everything I buy, I expect it to last for the rest of my life. FYI I'm 44. My tractor and attachments I expect to turn over to the next generation all still in perfect working order...with a little care and preventative maintenance. I pay for quality and good customer service, but I try not to throw money away.
I like to buy an American made product when possible, but it had be better quality as well.

I also like Ted's videos. ;)

It's not the weight I was thinking about. That tiller is eight and a half feet wide, and the skid it's on is made out of 2x4s. All of the boards are 2x4. A regular pallet jack wouldn't work well.
If it was on a pallet jack, I can't see maneuvering that thing around inside a box truck and trying to get onto the lift gate.

FYI - freight companies use battery powered, motor driven, electric over hydraulic pallet jacks - not really the pump handle and drag type. They are more like a walk behind forklift. 30897311.jpg

FedEx delivered my pallet forks to the house a few weeks ago in a semi truck with a lift gate.
He had a manual pallet jack (kind of ironic way to move tractor pallet forks) and drug it up to my garage.
I wouldn't try that with that tiller skid.
