The aftermarket stabilizers definitely leave a lot of room for improvement! First chance I get at OEM at a decent price, I'm grabbing them. Are the weights 75 pounders? If you want OEM, make him an offer for all 8. Mine are this style for mounting on the cast iron hanger. 88lbs a pieceThose look similar to the pair I bought. After getting my hands on them, I feel there is a lot of room for improvement. A little off topic, but what would you guys pay for a set of 8 Ford suitcase weights? There are some not too far from my house and the guy wants $70 a piece. <img src="http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=464305"/>
Thanks for the info. I am reaching out to him now to see if they are still available. They would be nice for that 4610/4630 fwd I hope to get one day.If I NEEDED them I would pay $300 for all. If I just wanted them as a nice addition to the tractor $200.
I'm a fabricator at my day job and would love to just make some that are more stout when I have the time (yeah right). The aftermarket stabilizers definitely leave a lot of room for improvement! I see them come up from time to time on CL. My current front ballast system works just fine on my other tractor, so I will most likely just swap over the bumper/brush gaurd with the weights that I'm using. I'll post up a picture when I have a chance. I would prefer to have oem if I can get them at a good price though.I'm just very patient when buying cast weights. I have ten 110lb White tractor cast weights that I've bought over a span of 10 years for average $30 per weight. I'm not brand conscious.
Do you have a CNC flame table? Easy as pie if you do we have a Hypertherm 250 amp at work that production cuts 1-1/4 and then the flame head will cut whatever will fit under the gantry thickest I've personally cut is 8".I'm a fabricator at my day job and would love to just make some that are more stout when I have the time (yeah right).
I have emailed him to see if they are still available and also asked what they weigh.
Lol! I work at a small r&d chemical engineering consulting company, not a true fab shop. I am self taught and the only fabricator there. I wish I had a cnc flame/plasma table. I've used them at the local cc and they are definitely sweet! I do have access to a hypertherm, but can't remember the model. I just have a mill, lathe, Dynasty 200 and torch setup. I have a wire feeder and lathe at home and access to a sycrowave 350 when I need it for thick aluminum work. Long term, I told my boss I want to pick up some cnc stuff, but it's hard to sell people on equipment that they are not familiar with. I feel pretty confident I could make the stabilizers with my portaband, the mill and a tig/mig machine.Do you have a CNC flame table? Actually they are needed less on an FWD tractor. I carry large round bales of hay with my 3910fwd on the 3pt with no front weights.
