Photobucket has stopped free 3rd party hosting, wants $39.99/month. What to do?

kind of like the guy who bought the epi pen company and raised the price ridiculously.

Maybe if photobucket (who says they have a 100 million customers) was to charge maybe $10/year, then they'd have a billion dollars a year coming in. I guess they have decided to go the greedy route. I can't imagine too many people paying $40/month.

I have been using Postimage.org — free image hosting / image upload on other sites.

I've never run into max size issues uploading attachments here, so it makes me think folks who do are uploading giant images straight from their camera. Not only is that wasteful, they'd be too big to view anyhow. So maybe the real solution is some sort of resize script. The forum admin of a boating site I use did something like that. It could be something TBN does as a routine part of accepting image attachments.

I would agree that an image resize script would be a good idea. I'm sure there's a lot of TBN server storage that gets wasted due to the enormous image sizes that today's smartphone cameras generate.

I stopped using Photobucket years ago. Prefer to save photos on local PC where I have control. :camera:

After 24 hours you don't have control of images you upload here. They are here for good and you can't change or delete them.

I just jumped through the hoops to try and delete my Photobucket account. Will have to wait a week to see if that stuck. Could not even log in from my main account page. Had to go to the help section and search for a page where I could log in without 500,000 popups preventing it.
