We have had our phone number the same for many years as it should be. Well, bout 4 or 5 years ago we " our town " was blessed by the choctaw nations with a casino and the smoke shops that go with em. Wouldn't you know it their phone no. is 1 no. off from our home no. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif and for years now they have expanded greatly in size and buisness. I dont think I can take another person callin at 2 A.M. wanting ta know how much pall mall ,ultra, super, long , slims are! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gifOr is joe or mary there. Im talkin 5 or more calls a day lots more on wkends. What can I do about this? Anything besides change my phone no. " cost me money" Reckin the chief might see my point and change their phone no,? " /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" Or should I start sellin cancer sticks to these knot heads who cant seem ta call the right place? Can you sell a phone no. ? This place is getting huge, roping arenas, motels, restarants, truck stop. I have been wondering how the choctaws afford ta build all this when purt near everyone that goes in there comes out a big ol winner, just ask em they will tell ya so. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif I aint never spent a cent in any casino as money is hard ta come by and must be spent wisely. IMO. Anybody have any suggestions?

While I feel your pain, I think the easy way is to change your number. Even if you somehow get the casino to change theirs, the "old" number is in hundreds of homes, so your bad calls will continue for years.

We've had to change our email about 6 times due to carriers going out of business, or their service being dropped, so I know what a pain it is to change info.

With luck, you might get the phone company to change you for free.

See if your phone company has "Privacy director". /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif detector
Go to http://www.bellsouth.com/consumer/local/index.html and check the local options offered.
Looks like you would have to give all you family friends etc a pass word to make you phone ring.
Let me know if this helps. I don't have the service but had heard about it.

Back in the"good ole days" /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif (gone now) when the operator said "number please" she would probably have screened some calls for you.

I know as far as problems go this one dont amount to a hill of beans but is a big ol pain in the rear . I figure I am S.O.L. as far as the indians giving a hoot. I have never had caller I.D. or any of the other stuff out there.. Im gonna call mon. morning "phone co." and see what they say. Maybe its time to get a cell phone and super duper fast internet through the cable T.V. I dont know.

You are missing out on the entertainment potential of your phone situation. Give the callers incorrect info. Tell them of the super low price on whatever they are looking for "but only for the next hour" and then run over to the smoke shop and watch the fun when they show up.

The clerk in our maintenance office had a phone number close to the bus terminal. She was always getting calls asking for "how much" or "what time". The callers would get mad or nasty when she told them "wrong number" or they would argue that they dialed the correct number. After a while she just gave up telling them "wrong number" and started making up information to give them. She said if they couldn't dial the number correctly they deserved what they got.

I feel your pain or I should say my wife does. She gets phone calls on her cell phone from people telling her their power is out. They don't believe her when she says this isn't Choctaw Electric. Just the other day some guy calls her and she told him he had the wrong number. He told her it was the number in the phone book. She said you better look again and he did. At least he apologized

We used to have a phone number (6101) that we were always getting calls for the Vet (9101), One Sunday this guy calls and tells me all about his horse and then asked me if I thought I could help him. I told him no but if you would call Dr Steele at 9101, I bet he could.

Its the chiefs birthday today! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif HA HA . /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif just ask the first 2 luckey callers this morning! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gifI might be in the grease though, the second caller wanted to talk to my manager. I couldn't go through with it on the second caller and told them the right no. The next time high brass 8's are that cheap hid me a case in a ice chest on the top shelf. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif Yall have a good one.

A few years back my number was very similar to the local cable TV's service number. After being cussed out or other rude treatment for telling people they had the wrong number I started telling them that it was too wet, or too cold, or we were too tired to come fix their problem and would then hang up on them. It was fun.

Mine was close the cable co too but it was the admin office. Who do they think is going to fix thier cable at 3am, some secretary just waiting for a call???? I would have fun with them. Once someone called three times at about 2am. This time I starting saying "We here have as much of your money as we want, we don't care if your cable ever gets fixed." This is a true statment, I do not want any of their money and I don't care when their cable gets fixed. I would not like to be on the receiving end if they ever got the right number.

I've had a similar problem as follows: We have a business 800 number. Somehow someone has figured out how to make our 800 number show up as the caller id # when they make a call or... there is something screwed up with the AARP phone system. When someone from AARP calls from a certain # the caller id shows up as our 800 #. We have been getting numerous calls telling us to quit calling their phone. We tell them that we are not calling and Centurytel can't find out what's wrong. We haven't got a nasty call for about 2 weeks now but this was real wierd since when we make outgoing calls it shows our normal number and cannot indicate the 800 #. This happen to anyone else?

i had a bunch of toll free lines installed where i "use" to work, and of course, all the numbers had been used before, some for insurance companies, some for other types, anyway, i ended up having a pin number attached to each line that folks had to dial to make the call come thru, that solved all the problems: some people don't think about it, but when you get a wrong call on your toll free line, it ain't free to you..
