I need to dig about 200 9" postholes to erect a farm fence setting 6/7 posts, and to dig about 100 12 postholes to set 10 posts as property boundary markers.
I have a 1968 Ford 2000 3-cylinder gas that does not have remote hydraulics; therefore, the only available down force is gravity.
I am researching which would be a greater value: purchasing a PHD with 9"& 12" bits, OR renting a Skid steer equipped with an auger and bits for a weekend. If I rent a Skid steer with auger then it really does not matter which brand auger it is equipped. However, IF I purchase a PHD, I want a WELL ENGINEERED, WELL BUILT, and DURABLE PHD that will last for years.
So far, I have determined that there are three prospective companies that manufacture PHD's that might be worth their asking price; Bush Hog, Woods and Land Pride. If I purchase, one of my prime concerns is DURABILITY. Warranties and parts availability is wonderful, but if the PHD needs a lot of repairs and replacement parts, I have to wonder about its engineering and quality of manufacture, not to mention its durability.
Today, while visiting a local tractor dealer, he said that both Bush Hog and Woods PHD are manufactured in China, but the Land Pride PHD is manufactured in Kansas, USA. I have looked on Bush Hogg´s website and NOWHERE does it proclaim its products are are made in America?
The quoted Land Pride PHD prices are: PD15 Series, $1.195.00; PD25 Series, $1,295.00; Pride PD35, $1,495.00.
My questions are:
#1, since the latest posts concerning these three PHD were posted back in 2006; does anyone have any CURRENT and ACCURATE information as to WHERE the Bush Hog PHD and the Woods PHD are manufactured?
#2, has anyone purchased a Bush Hog 2102 PHD or a Bush Hog 2103 PHD, or a Woods PHD65 or a Land Pride PD25 PHD or PD35 PHD that was manufactured since 2009?
How has it held up?
Would you purchase another one?
#3, Are the prices I have been quoted fair market prices?
I appreciate you time and reply.
