PEX for shop air lines?

For a lot of air line I would just use solid copper. It is easy to solder and fairly durable, meaning it can take a hit. Don't know the price though.

There are 3 grades of copper pipe - K, L, M each has a different wall thickness and pressure rating and priced accordingly. I use "L" in my shop.

Thats changing.

We only use this stuff anymore https://promo.parker.com/promotionsite/transair/us/en/transair-home

Too pricey for an average home shop though.
Now that you guys are getting carried away. If you really want to get carried away...............

In a major industrial setting, we used Schedule 10 304L stainless steel piping and butt welded fittings for all our main air line applications. Copper piping with hard silver solder joints (not soft silver solder used for copper water pipes) in other applications.

Actually......the transair aluminum pipe is more expensive than sch10 SS.

The justification is that it is much faster so what you lose in material cost is saved in labor
