My trusty companion wants to be with me all the time. He's my dog, an Australian Shepard. Since I like to travel on my motorcycle I thought I'd make a trailer to pull behind my Yamaha Roadliner. Have any of you done this? I was thinking of one of the small Harbor Freight trailers, under $200.00, and then build a sheetmetal container on it with a hole on the top for him to stick his head out. Small windshield in front, burglar bars on the sides and back and a harness inside to keep him from jumping out. I'd line the inside with nice cushy shag rug and have portholes in the front and sides for ventilation. Any other ideas?

I know a guy 20 years ago that had a big sheepdog and a Goldwing. He mounted a cage on the back of the bike seat and they were off. Dog looked very content and comfortable.

I think the one problem you might have with a trailer is directing the exhaust fumes away from the cage/container. Even with open sides and areas that would allow the dog to put his head, I would think the fumes are still going to be bad enough to do harm to your dog. I do agree with the methods the others have suggested, (and have seen plenty of them used), but I'd really worry about that trailer idea. JMHO!
