Pet Peeve

Some of us don't do much picture taking and then have no idea how to post if we did. So doubt you will ever see picture of my equipment. Really wish I had picture history of some things but don't. It seems you should post at least the state you are in and if a small one like Texas maybe a little more. :) I did pull some of my info off due to the concern of theft. As you discuss your equipment and security and then happen to mention you will be at so and so place or picking up equipment or what ever, you just have no idea who is trolling any web site.
kthompson,

You are exactly right, i don't want to put no more in my profile than i have to, i may start taking some off, but it may be too late, someone may be waiting for me to leave the house right now and start loading it all up.

My mother-in-law has one credit card just for Christmas to order gifts that she can't find in our area, a couple of years ago she got her statement showing her purchases that she made after Christmas.

On that statement was a $700 dollar plane ticket, she called my wife to come down and call them, it was a hassle to get that cleared up, and when she did she cancelled her account.

You have hit my hot button wih this topic! Many times what I will do is welcom them to TBN and suggest that if they fill in thier profile with where they are from it will show up when they post. I remind them how much they enjoy reading posts and seeing wehre the people are from. If theya re concerned about privacy they can give a more general description but it is so nice for our members to do this. This jsut really drives me crazy! Plu on top of it new members will sometimes ask specific questions that can't be answered until we know generally where they are from.

i get tired of doing this post so I let it go but every once in a while I'll pick it back up again. What is also annoying is when they post, "can you help me with this and that" I'll post and ask them to fill in thier profile, and they totally ignore it and jsut keep on asking for help! My husband always says that there are two kinds of people in this world, givers and takers.

When you enter a new group and start asking people to stop what they are doing and take the time to think about your request and then to type up answers for you, it just seems to me that you at least should put down where you are from. I even asked Hakim and Muhammed tp change the website so that you cna't register until you at least put something in showing where you are from. It is at least half the fun of reading in TBN, knowing were people are generally from. I wish Hakim and Muhammed would institute this requirement.

That would be a good ideal,

At least put the state, i started to put my email address for everyone to see, but decided to only let the staff know my address and other info.

My pet peeve about fourms is members that do not fill out their profiles. It is nice to know where people are from when reading differnt posts. At least tell us what state and part of the state if you are afraid of telling which town you live in.

Tom in Vermont

ps check my profile and see it is St Albans Vt

Good Mornin Tom,
Ive got most everything listed in my profile ! :) If you need to know anything else just ask, although Im kind of secretive about my age..... its rapidly closin in on 58 ! ;) OOpps there I go again... yeah just ask..... :)

I don't know. The more I hear about identity theft, information mining, etc., the less inclined I am to freely give information about myself.

Good point but I highly doubt at least telling the forum what state you are from is going to cause any harm. For me at least it's hard to give good advice on lubricants when I don't know where someone lives. Temperature can play a big role in product selection. It's a heck of a lot hotter in the desert than it is in Minnesota during the winter.
