I have an older 1960's to the best of my knowledge MF165/165A/65A who knows what Industrial backhoe. The CAV injection pump is leaking from best I can tell from the injection body nearest the banjo connections. I thought it was a banjo and swapped the front bottom with the front top with no change. I believe the gasket/seal I'm after is #23 in the drawing, with the possibility that #19 may be the culprit. I think the source of the leak is between the engine block and the injector so just can't see behind it well enough to tell. I have the rebuild kit for this injection pump and actually bought this machine for $0.20/# with a blown cylinder. I rebuilt the engine, which included resleeving it, having the crankshaft turned 0.020" down, and even reinstalled the head gasket correctly, as the original was backwards blocking the #4 water port, which consequently was the piston rattling around like a pop can in a 2 liter bottle.
It would appear that I could remove the #3/4/5 bolts, the 4 banjos, and slip these 2 assemblies off, replace the gaskets, and slip it back together. Admittedly, I'm afraid of diesel injection pumps and have never wrenched on one other than to bleed it or change the oil in it, which this one does not have oil.
Does anyone have any experience tearing one of these apart, preferably while leaving it on the tractor so I don't disturb timing. And knows if it's possible to safely service the #19 and #23 gaskets without the pandora's spring popping out and flying away? (Sorry for the sideways photos, I don't know why they got rotated when attached.)
