Paying Dues

I am a lucky guy... best friend was shot in a hunting accident at age 15... 30.30 thru the heart, I watched him die. Best friend died at age 51 of a weird adrilian glan failure... watched dad die from cancel... refused to watch mom die... my sisters did watch. Watched A-6E, A-7, A-3D, F-14A, A-4, TA-4, H-53 flyers die in combat and or flat hating. I'm 52... never going to be 51 again... three story house... worst thing I ever did was build a three story house. We all pay dues to be where we are! I could go on and on.... Many more are good experiences... flying home on a H-53 with mom providing steak buns for the H-53 crews... me flying stick on a H-53 or NUH-1E when ever I wanted... Too much bourbon... Life is good, but we all pay dues!

I'm luckier than most, in many ways.
"Helped" my folks die at home via hospice.
There wasn't much choice as to the watching of it in both cases.
Given the chance, I would have traded my soul to NOT watch two of the strongest people I have ever known deteriorate and die.
Plenty of beer here. Life IS good. Cheers!

Mark, Yeh, it's spring here in Kaulifornia, one day I'm in the winter safety shoes, the next I'm in the summer safety shoes. It's just crazy. At least I'm practicing safe shoeing.

Mornin Mark,
40 years ago I was just about 16 and thought I knew about everything there was to know, today I realize how little I really do know !

Life can be very good, and very rough, and very unfair at times ! Its these lessons that you take out of this short life, and learn from them to make yourself a better person !

I've heard it said that the only thing fair in life is that it is unfair to everyone...

Stop to smell the flowers, listen to the birds and enjoy the coffee and the view -- that's all we can be sure of....
