:mad:New member here and I need help, I have a 5 yr old century 2535. It set un used most of the winter. Today when I went to use it I could not get the 4 speed shift lever on the right side of the seat to move. It will not shift gears. Its locked in one gear or another because I can move the tractor. Can anyone help me with this.

Linkage issue?? Did it sit outside?

I know that some members have dealt with sticks, etc. getting caught in the linage beneath the tractor...

Maybe something rusted / seized in the linkage???

Thanks for responding. Yes it did sit outside. 99% sure it's not sticks or other debris. More like rust or linkage got out of sync if thats possible. Due to health problems I will have to wait for my son in law to show up and put him to work for beer and pizza.

I have the same tractor and it certainly sounds as if there is some linkage siezed beneath the tractor. There are many fittings to grease and they can be challenging to access. SIL and grease gun will probalby cure the ills. w jones

I can attest to the number, and tricky location of all the zerks...I just used a flashlight to locate them all, and a lot of twisting around to reach them...

Look under the right fender where the shifter hooks to the trans. You will see the shifter forks are jammed together. take something long and tap the forks and they will un jam.

This happens to me when I shift to fast sometimes.

Hope that helped
