I've been using a hand pump to fuel from 30-gl drums and recently acquired a 120v electric pump from a friend. Another buddy owns a service station and when he discovered I was trying to rig a pump to fuel my tractor offered me a nozzle and hose. The pump has been stored in a barn since 1982 (according to the date scratched on the filter) but I freed it up and it works fine. The only problem is a small hole in the fuel hose where it was kinked. The hose has all fittings made onto it and has steel mesh reinforcement within the rubber. Before I cut the hose with a hacksaw and jury-rig a fitting I thought I'd ask for ideas on patching the hole. If I can't find any other method I may place a piece of fuel line over the hole and tighten it in place with a stainless hose clamp and see if that works. Any ideas? Thanks.

You can give your ideas a try but if you got it for free, why not just buy a new hose? I'm sure you'll still be ahead of the game .

I just went through the same thing with my fuel delivery hose and I put a piece of rubber over the hole and clamped it down with a stainless steel hose clamp until I was able to replace it. Problem was that it sprung another hole and I got sprayed with diesel fuel. Buy another hose, they aren't that much money. I lucked out and had a spare in the attic of the garage with another fuel dispenser. Remove the filter screen in the dispenser and clean that also. The old fuel will have gelled in some of the passages and it should have a complete cleaning. Depending on the brand, you might find a parts break down on the web.

My advice would be to get a new hose.. failing that.. I'd cut the hose at the break, and then find a barb fitting and clamp them onto the fitting.. even a section of metal pipe the right diamater would work... I've done that to GARDEN hoses... Overall.. BE SAFE

Don't let a 15$ hose burn a barn down.. Either get a new hose or make a GOOD repair. I don't want to be reading about you in the paper...
