pasquali drive shaft

Hey folks! Im new to the forums and a three day owner of a 988 pasquali. Its in good shape as the original owner of the past 40 years has taking great care of it. I've run equipment enough to be dangerous and well I managed to explode the front u joint on the drive shaft going through the articulation. My question to those is, does the tractor have to be separated to remove and install the new u joint and shaft? Ive tried all kinds of angles and the shaft wont slip of the splines to remove it. I also see the front yoke is roll pinned and im able to reach into that and possibly be able to remove the pin and pull the yoke. Im hoping im not the only one thats managed to explode a u joint on one. thanks folks.
