finally bought a parts washer and was wondering if mineral spirits would be a good choice of cleaner? thanks, johnny /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I would immagine it should be fine. Does the parts washer have any recomendations? Some may advise against particular solvents because of potential damage to the pump. I have a pretty good deal with my Saftey Clean guy so I havent had to go generic, but dont see why it wouldnt work.
I use that purple power stuff[or something like that] from wally wcrld.Oderless peels off grease.Iwash my hands in it,but it burns like djuvhfdf74hjf /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I use Zep Industrial Purple that I get from Home Depot. I mix it 3 parts water to 1 part purple in my parts washer. My washer's pump is only rated for water based solvents. The purple stuff works very well removing grease and oil.
I have a 30 gallon parts washer I bought from harbor frieght about 2 yrs ago.I have used mineral spirits in it from day 1 & no problems. I don't know what the purpole stuff is y'all talk about .If it works better & is cheaper I would try it.Mineral spirits is about $2.00 per gal.
What does that quantity of mineral spirits cost? I think it would work OK. I never used anything in my parts washer, from Northern Tool, except Varsol that I bought in 5 gallon buckets from the local Exxon fuel distributor.
I see my next door neighbor using that purple power stuff on his big yellow tlb and he swears by it. He did caution me that if I used it on my mower, that it also removes paint if left on to long. I've not tried it yet...he did say that it's the best thing he's found for removing grease & oil. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i went with simple green extreme. i use the purple stuff but it will remove paint if left in contact to long, the parts washer. does a really good job. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
