Hello folks.

Cleaning out an old barn today I found these pieces. Looks like two 2-cyl engine blocks and a transmission housing. Can anybody identify them? Do they have value?

Thanks...

If in usable condition they are worth a lot more than that to someone. the problem is finding that someone.

If you can get a positive ID, the problem becomes selling, and shipping them. Ends up often being way more trouble than it's worth. Even scrapping, unless you have a lot to go with it, it costs more in gas then scrap value. It sucks, but often the best choice is dig a hole and throw them in it...

Easy to identify by using Google to run the OEM part numbers cast into parts found. M1782T is a clutch housing for a John Deere 40 or 420. M64 is a JD 40, or 420 engine block.

Both would have to be gone over closely looking for cracks/breaks to know if they are really worth something. If you have a tractor salvage yard near, they may give you a bit over scrap price, but probably not much. Someone somewhere is looking for those parts if useable.

This is a link to a used clutch housing, and what it is selling for. CLUTCH HOUSING

This is my JD 420C engine, but the view is the opposite side. I can't place that large port in my memory though.

that someone a long time ago found those parts to be worthy of a barn floor rather than re-installing them should tell you lots about their condition and value. I'm with 15 cent per poun.

Do some googling for a local JD old tractor enthusiast, or go talk to one of the neighbors who has one. My one neighbor has a 2 lunger and runs an old threshing machine with it using a belt.
