part for IH 274 diesel

I am searching everywhere for a u joint on the steering shaft where it connects to the gear box. Does anyone have any idea who might have it?
My tractor is a 1983 International 274 diesel.

I would take the u-joint up to a good auto parts store that sells parts for autos, farm, and big trucks and see if they could match your u-joint up. Alot of u-joints are a standard size not sure about your application, but it would be worth a try and propably cheaper than a tractor parts dealer.

Thanks Matt, I've tried that. The problem is that parts for 274 will only fit 274 and there is nothing out there that corresponds or at least that I've been able to find.

Well the tractor was made by Nissan according to TractorData, so you might find more leads going down that road if you could find a comparable model grey market Nissan branded tractor source for parts.

Otherwise, unless you have already done so, you could try taking a dial caliper and getting the spread dimensions on the joint + the diameter of the caps. Take those measurements and match them to a part # in the Neapco U-joint Catalog. I would be pretty surprised if there isn't a match in there.

Once you have your part # it will be a simple matter of finding a supplier who has or can order it for you.

Do you have a Bearings and Drives around there, up here in the Dakotas those guys have had any thing I needed or could get it in a day or two, they just measured the head and length and went by that.
