I keep a clevis on mine. Use it mainly to pull over trees, or flip over large rocks. Of course it makes a good place for the tow truck operator to winch your tractor out of the ravine backwards too. Anything you need a hard heavy pull below the axle of the tractor.

A few others have said that their pins 'dropped out' and, looking at your photos, I can see why there's the potential for that to happen.

The locking pin is the weak point, if you were to reverse the drop pin (head at top) and engage/push-in the locking pin underneath then gravity would keep the pin in place if you were lose the locking pin. Further to this, the constant vibration(s) and general 'rattling around' of the tractor itself will wear on that type of locking pin.

Clevis Chain Grab Hook is on my rear/center drawbar 24/7.

I replaced the "hairpin" recently with a hefty cotter pin. I still have the clevis pin oriented with the pin is up, protected from brush when I am operating my Rotary Cutter.
