Don't forget curl force is greater than lift. So you could apply more stress to the forks by curling than lifting.
Thanks for that. I was under the impression curl was always stronger.Lift force is a lot greater at ground level and most manufacturers don’t give that measurement. And no lift spec takes into account for shock load.
I prefer floating forks. If you need to point them down or apply down pressure, use a short piece of chain.Ted from Everything Attachments says he hates floating forks, I think because you can稚 point them down? I致e used my non-floating forks in ways you shouldn稚 like digging out a rock so I don稚 think I壇 like floating either.
Floating forks would never do for me...

While we are on the subject, what are the thoughts about forks that clamp onto the bucket?
Yup! They are cheap, but that's about it.They suck. They cost a considerable amount of lift capacity and visibility is awful. They’ve been known to bend buckets.
