When i ordered my New 2520 i ordered new john deere floating pallet forks. thay ask what size i wanted 42 inch or 48 inch. I just said 48. i was measureing today. 48 looks long. what do you guys think. thay have not come in yet. so i could change my mind. you think i should stay with 48 or change to 42.

I would definitely go with the 42" forks., That's what I used when I built mine, and I kinda wish I had gotten some 36" forks instead.

Get the shorter ones. It's not like you have 120HP and will be picking up full size 48" palletts with 1500# on them. Those extra 6" of thick steel 6'-10' from the pivot point take away some useful load.

I will see if i have time to change them to 42's

Thanks for the input....:)

Chris,
What is your cost on the pallet forks

I have 42 inch forks for mine and I will build 5 foot extensions for them for picking a 4 X 8 from the end and I'm not worried about losing weight capacity.
Most trailers have a tire to prevent loading from side and a pickup bed could be loaded from rear, think about this when you get a load of plywood/sheetrock etc. and it's in the bed, ya still have to unload by hand

Chevy i paid 799$ for my JD floating pallet forks. that was with 48 inch spikes. i think the 42 inch spike one i changed to is a tad cheeper.
i think thay list almost a 1000$ but now since i changed the order. i wont get them with the tractor . it will take longer....
