Forks Pallet Fork Attachment Suggestions

/ Pallet Fork Attachment Suggestions #11
I found some surplus 36" forks that were taken off of a small, battery-operated forklift. The guy said he had dozens of sets. They weighed about 70lbs each. Perfectly sized for my little 4100. I think I paid about $50 for them plus about $50 in shipping.

I traded about a pallet-load of pine bark mulch for my set of 36" forks

Personally I find the pallet forks that attach to the bucket mickey mouse. I had a set for about a week before trading them in and getting the ATI skid steer type quick attach for my Ford 2120, a corresponding female adapter welded to my bucket and a set of Woods Skid Steer forks. They work great. The bucket attach forks are too far forward, have a terrible view, don't have a solid back and worst of all, swivel when pushed at just the wrong time (making the tractor unstable or letting the load slip off). In my opinion DANGEROUS. I just moved a bunch of round bales with my TN and pallet forks. Ok for the bottom bales in a pile. Trying ot grab a top bale I found it very difficult not to grab the twine of the bale below it and partially lift it before the twine broke and the bale partially came apart. I would get the skid steer attachment plate, and stay away from the John Deere proprietary adapter. Limits your attachment choices greatly. Markham welding makes a good bale spear at a reasonable price.
