Painting what you built

This week used some of TSC's old brand of equipment paint that they are phasing out to replace with the Magic brand. Painted on old rusty steel that I wire-brushed to remove as much rust and old paint as reasonably possible. After 48 hours, it was possible to dig up a little paint with a fingernail, but it was difficult. And although this was allowed to dry in a garage, it's been raining out. So I am hopeful that after about a week it'll be pretty hard... I'd like to start putting the pieces back together.

priming would have helped.. and hardner would have for sure. that paint does not cure fast without hardner..

Yeah I am a little dissapointed in it. I've always used Rustoleum when I didn't need tractor colors. I know Rustoleum makes tractor colors, but it's harder to find locally.

i've used valspar for 15ys.. even when it was BPS. you simply have to use primer and hardner and good surface prep.

200$ paint over bad surface prep and incorrect mixing won't look good either..

After reasonable prep, I use Rustoleum Rusty Metal Primer and have had excellent results.
