Due for another around Monday...

The front lawn that had turned to dirt turned 100% emerald green within 72 hours of that first big storm...

Overall... the flora is thriving... the flora that survived that is...

Water bill with fees for 600 gallon pet day for 2 acres is $450 per month...

Sobering is the feeling... outside water had been off since the storm a few weeks back... it's like money in the bank.

Actual water can cost 1.5 cents per gallon so 600 gallons is $9 and then add meter and treatment fees...
Holy cow….we pay $35 per month for first 25,000 gal, then $0.8for each additional 1,000 gal. worst month could reach $80 if wife goes nuts with watering. But for 8 months out of the year it’s just $35. Per month

Since moving to the PNW, from the east coast, some 40 years ago, I have to say, that I know longer understand the concept of four equally measured seasons. We have a Fall.... that lasts two weeks. We have a Spring,....which also lasts about two weeks. We really only have two seasons. :) Its like there is some huge switch out there that only has an on or off setting.
yup

when i lived in oregon in sept it was just like a switch, went from perfect to......miserable......
for me anyway.

$25/mo which includes the first 1,000 gallons. Something like $9 for each additional 1,000 gallons. Small water system that serves parts of two mostly rural counties ad they're still laying lines along some roads. What annoys me is that they've raised raised four or five times in the last two years. Only a buck or two each time, but it plays heck with bill paying services that need to be adjusted in advance.

Better than it was when I moved here. Previous owner tried to drill a well a couple of times, but got nothing, so I had to had water trucked in and dumped in a cistern. That was $35 each load and you had to wait a day for two for delivery. It was real easy to run out, plus you had the electric use to run the pump.

For sure on short seasons. Sleep in too late on Sept 21 - you miss our fall season.

I guess I am fortunate to be on a pumped well where I live, just pay the electric bill. One of my properties has an artesian well with State water rights of 200 GPM. All free, no juice needed.

Just moved from the Puget Sound region and it was quite the quick transition from highs in the 80s and 90s to highs in the high fifties. Does winter give way to spring/summer that quick?

The Puget Sound is some of the most beautiful country on God's green Earth. I'm from Whatcom County and the beauty of Mt Baker, Mt. Shuksan, Georgia Straight, San Juan Islands etc. is just breath taking. Over hear, it's a different kind of beauty but it's still awesome. It's a dry desolate beauty of a lot of places that aren't that much changed from from the way the first settlers found it. I've done limited sight seeing, but I plan to

However, it is a huge change to transition from places thet received 45 to 60 inches of rain a year to a place that receives about 14 inches. January at the last house, 11.65 inches of rain, In 4 months here, maybe 2.5 inches.

Shuksan has a twin in Oregon - Mt. Thielsen, viewable from 138 west of Crater Lake.

In my book the North Cascades hwy is #1 for scenery, the North Umpqua between Roseburg and Crater Lake is #2.

I made at least 10 trips over and back, never tired of the scenery. Even the wildfires respected the beauty and stayed mostly on the forest floor. A few charred trees along the hwy. on the east side, relatively little damage, unlike the fires that hit the west side near Newhalem and the Skagit gorge a few years ago.
