PA price check on 4041H and 4047H...Edit...4047H on the way

After much tire kicking I am ready to pull the trigger on the purchase of one of these two tractors. I like the dealer, he's established, seems committed to the brand, and he's also the nearest dealer to me. He quoted me a taxed price of $21,306 on a 4041H with loaded tires and a tooth barred and triple hooked QA bucket. $23,108 for a similarly equipped 4047H. Also, $1998 for a Bush Hog SQ172. For the region (northeastern PA) is this a good price, or does he have some extra wiggle room. Almost forgot to mention that I recently purchased a Hustler SD, a Powertek splitter, and a generator from him.

I'm down in Alabama and those prices on the tractors are pretty good for down here.
The bush hog sounds high though... Is that a model with the clutch plate? If it is heavy duty with the clutch it may be worth it. Make sure the deck is 11ga, 10ga would be better.

Darn man did you win the lottery? A new Hustler, a new splitter, a new generator and now a new tractor. I am jellous. Not sure what they are going for right now but I wouldn't say they were high with the extras you are getting, but there is always wiggle room unless you have been beating on him pretty hard already.

The deck on the Bush Hog is 10 gauge, and I'm pretty sure he said that it has a slip clutch.

He's dropped the price on the 4041 by about $600 already from his starting point. I guess I've got a bit of a competitive streak in that I want the best deal I can get but I also don't want bad feelings on his side.
Thanks for the info, guys.

Well, I ordered the 4047H this afternoon. The dealer made a very good deal a great deal by including the 50 hour service (includes him transporting my tractor to and from). Pics will of course be posted when I take delivery :D.

Good job! Congrads on the new tractor, I think you made the better choice going with the larger of the two units unit.

Re: PA price check on 4041H and 4047H...Edit...4047H on the way

In MI I paid 20k OTD for the tractor and loader
3K for the rotor and brush hog
R4010H (older version of R4041H)

What is the normal difference in price between a hydro and shuttle trans? I paid $19,691 out the door for my R4047 shuttle.

There was about a $1300 difference between the two for the 4041 at my dealer. I checked with the next closest dealer (Binghamton, NY) and his price for the 4041H was about $1600 higher all told than my local LS dealer. I felt even better after I internet priced a similar L4740 and a JD 4320. My dealer said I should be taking delivery in a week or so...can't wait!

i must add, the 20k otd price is special in MI because in MI if its for farm use, we don't pay sales tax so that 20k was tax free

Bocephous,

Did you buy from Wellivers in Jerseytown? If so, how do you like the splitter?

No, I purchased it all from Hansens Equipment in Forest City, PA. I haven't known Ty (Hansen) long but he really seems like an honest, service oriented dealer. He sells LS, TYM, Hustler, Bush Hog, and Dixon products.

He only had the one Powertek splitter that I bought. So far I only have a couple hours on it, but it seems well made. Big, knotty chunks will start to bog it down a little (it's the 516 model, 20 ton, 5.5 hp B&S), but nothing has stopped it yet. It has larger wheels than a Lowes or HD splitter so it rides smoother. The splitting surface is a little low, which can start to get taxing on your lower back after a while if you're a taller individual, but it is easier to get those weighty pieces on the splitter. It doesn't seem to use much gas, either.

Well guys I am new here. I have been following all the information on ALL the tractors, and I beleive that the LS has won me over. Just put in my order for a LS 4041H with a loader. Originally thought about the 3039H but the few dollars more I upgraded. My first ever tractor so I will post MANY questions about operations and such. Was told it could be delivered in less than a week.

I'm sure you guy's who just ordered new tractors will be very happy with your choice. I'm very satisfied with my R3039H. There are times when I wished I had gone with the 4041 or 4047, but in all honesty my tractor fits my needs perfectly. I have a lot of trees on my property, and it makes for some tight maneuvering. I guess it's typical man's nature to want the biggest and best !!!
I got the most HP in a managable frame size than anyone else offered.

Now now lets not be doing that, talking about different colors that way. That is talk not unlike others do about LS and we are better that that!

My father in law has a John Deere 4105 with a hydro tranny and it works and runs nice, but it lacks the options of the LS. I like the Mitzubishe (ever how you spell it) over the Yanmar engine. Plus the reviews of the LS are all positive vs mixed on the John Deere. My brother has a BIG John Deere, for what reason I don't know and he has constant problems. Most of his issues are related to a loose screw between the seat and steering wheel, but thats a chapter for Dr. Phil.
