Back several months ago I had to replace a stolen set of gauges and torches my dad had on his old oxygen and acetylene tanks...
I bought a nice used set off of Craigslist...
Torch Weld heavy duty torches with a set of Airco gauges...
This set to my knowledge is USA made back in the day...
My issue is that one of the oxygen gauges does not work...
I am perplexed as to either buy a new set of gauges or just go ahead and bite the bullet with a whole new torch set...
I am not out a lot of coin on the used set but I really like the torch and tips...
The gauge could be repaired but the cost is prohibitive verses a newer set...
I have a #3L 100 ft. acetylene and a 55" 250 ft. oxygen tank...
Dad used these units on his tractors and dozers...
BTW I am not a professional welder but do OK...
Trained by my dad on an old Smith stick welder that still runs like a scalded dog..
Any advise would be appreciated...

Replace the gauge that is not working correctly. No need to buy a whole new set.

Glad you brought this up. I have a small torch set that needs 2 gauges replaced. Thanks for the reminder.

Replace or repair. Just last month I had the same dilemma with my oxygen regulator. It was an older Air Liquide manufactured by Airco or perhaps Concoa. Came back looking and working like new for $80. Not saying this is the best route to go but it's what I ended up doing. Terry

when you say gage, do you mean regulator? Gages are easy to replace on a regulator. If the regulator is damaged, they can be fixed, but it will cost more than a new gage.

A friend just dropped off his Ox regulator @ Matheson to be repaired/rebuilt ... they gave him an estimate of $65.

Nice set...
Thanks all for the help...
I am going to call my LWS to see if they can help first...
I am not sure if they can repair them or know of a good shop...
If not I will call these folk to get an estimate...

Thanks. It was purchased new almost 30 years ago. Terry

Just an update...
I was able to purchase a replacement gauge from Regulator & Torch Exchange for a very reasonable price...
Went ahead and got a couple of flashback arrestors for my old torch also...
My old Airco gauges still work flawlessly along with the TorchWeld Torch and small brazing Airco torch...
I got a great deal off Craigslist for the unit...
Very pleased...
