Owl in my cedar tree

/ Owl in my cedar tree #21
My friend in Cape Breton Nova Scotia was out cross country skiing with his black lab running in front. He seen the owl several times along the trail then as they advance up the trail the owl came swooping down towards the back of the neck of the dog. He yelled the dogged turn and the owl flew off. Frank thought the owl was going for the back of the neck of his black lab.

Same happened with me while I was walking around in a farm at night. You know, I'm not able to say what exactly kind of bird was swooping above my head because it was dark. But what else could it be? The wing span was huge like a table and - the most important what I remember - IT WAS NO NOISE. You can hear many big birds flying quite high, but that was spinning absolutely silently just 0.5-1 m above me. Thats why I made a decision it was owl. Had a strange feeling after that... :confused2:

I was out fishing one day and an eagle swooped within a few meters. I would not trust a very hungry albatross or owl to think about severing the nerves in the back of your neck then eat you alive.

Maybe I will start to wear a neck brace when fishing. Lol.

The very first photo of the thread is high resolutuon. Blow it up to full size and look at that lone eye. Pretty hard to forget that stare.

I've done that already many times with my wife. She said, this is the best pic of owl she had ever seen. Yeah, what a stare ... !
Would you mind if I'll place this pic among my screen saver files? :)

Saw this guy a couple of years ago (didn't realize it had been that long ago).
From where I was there was a slope towards a river. He was probaly 15 - 20' up in a tree but was eye level to me. He was about that far away too. Never did fly off.
