TSC {Travellor} 15w40 here for the last 10 yrs with no issues.
AND I use their hydro fluid, as well.
Plus, I change oil without changing the filter a couple of times per season.
it's cheap insurance.

You can over think, as well as, over pay all you want.
It's a free country...... or was anyway.
It's about to get sideways again but I digress:2cents:

As long as the 15w40 is meant for diesel you won't have a problem. I ran Rotella T 15-40 in Wisconsin all year and also mid-Tennessee. No problems in TN but when it gets to 10F I would plug it in. Colder then that I would just put more wood in the fireplace and stay in.

I was told gas 15-40 oil is different than diesel 15w40 and not to use gas oil in diesels, so be careful.

My Kubota M6040 has a turbo. The owners manual recommends standard 15W40 oil( from below 32F to above 90F). I use what the owners manual recommends. I've never had a problem. I've used my tractor at -20F. No problems with starting nor running. I will only due that again in an emergency. Even though completely clothed in down - head to toe - I darn near froze my butt off. The tractor was fine - I suffered.

I use 15W-40 year round here with no problems. I do run it in the winter (snowplowing), but if it's below 0 I stay inside. Rarely get snow when it's that cold anyway.
Can't see changing oil 2x/yr, especially when it'll only have 15-20 hr. tops in cold weather.

Just use 0w40 or 0w30 all year round.

I'm retired. There isn't much of anything that will get me outside when it's below zero. Sure as H*LL not the rock hard, frozen seat on my Kubota.

BTW - I've got a "hot pad" just for the Kubota seat. When I must go out and it's cold. Everything south of the border appreciates that ............

I run Rotella T-6 synthetic 5w-40 year round

From the oil chart 5w40 covers everything in temps.
My preference would be AMSoil 5W40. Have run, sold and installed lots of AMSoil over the years without a single complaint.
Quality matters. Maybe not so much in general but it does when things happen you dont expect.

First you need understand oil relationship to turbo.

Damage happens when machine not allowed to cool before shutdown and oil cooks in turbo bearings.
Also very good idea to cap off or plug exhaust pipe wid rags after shutdown and if machine ever towed someplace on trailer over road.

Second, tractor belongs in proper tractor shed, not under carport..

I asked my dealer if they covered the exhaust when they picked it up from the yard (7 hour drive)... nope, they never do.
I did cover it during the 2 hurricanes we had this year.
If you'd like to build me a proper tractor shed, I'll supply the pizza and beer.
