This might qualify as the laugh of the week but.....
I dicided that since it is Sunday I WOULD COOK breakfast:thumbsup:
I put eggs in a pan and semi fried them. Then I put them in the oven (still in pan) to cook the tops, (every time I try to flip them they break and the yolks get ugly) I rotate the know on the oven dial thing to broil but instead of rotating RIGHT.....I rotated LEFT. It passes the CLEAN position.
CLICK....oven door LOCKED  I tugged on the door a few seconds and brilliant that I am I quickly went to the breaker box and tripped the breaker so the oven would not go to 1200 degrees. I figured that this would release the electro-magnetic door lock. NOPE. An hour later and a bowl of cerial....the door is still locked.
IDEAS.....it is an AMANA, "Big Oven model" with the ceramic top. (I thought I could pull up the top and find a solinoid.....the top will not lift:mad:)
Anyone been held hostage by an oven before?:confused2:

Wifey suggested to turn the knobs back to OFF and reset the breaker, she thought it would reset and let the door open. worth a try?

Wifey also suggests that you get one of those "as seen on TV" flip it over pans to do your eggs in. For those of us (including Wifey) who cannot flip worth a flip. Good Luck.

THANK YOU, James and Linda.....
My wifey, another Linda, is very appreciative of the advice, it WORKED.
And I would have "egg on my face" but they are hard as a rock now:laughing:
Thanks again.

Find a lid to fit the pan. I have a couple of small cast iron pans that use for eggs, and a lit from my other set that fits pretty snug. Right after I put the egg in the pan I add a little water and put the lid on.. Steams the egg to perfection. And as long as I time it right the yolk isn't cooked completely.

Oh yes, these appliances get smarter all the time

Once in a while, the touch sensitive switches on our oven are not very sensitive. I hate standing there like a nummy touching the button over and over again. Once I had to go to the breaker box too.

I must admit, I have never heard of anyone cooking eggs as you do. :p
Dave.
