Alta is the highest elevation in IOWA (still not very high) check out the barn on the lower left for scale.

When I got married a millenium ago /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif, my wife and I drove across country for our honeymoon to my new job in New Mexico. We drove across Iowa the full length (east to west) and the full width (south to north). My wife still remembers the awfull boredom of driving through the plains.

Is a day and half in Iowa too much? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Hmmm, doesn't look that different than where I live! Believe it or not, we vacationed in Iowa this year. Hit the Amana Colonies. A bit dissappointing but we still had fun. Spent some time in Dubuque and really enjoyed that. We were studying Queen Anne architecture for our new house and Dubuque has quite a collection of midwestern "painted ladies" /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

PitBull,

When you're from the mountain and foothill areas of Western PA, spending that much time in the plains area for the first time is mind numbing.

Now, being a little older, one can appreciate the different beauties this country provides. Heck, two summers ago, we drove throught the eastern part of Arkansas and were amazed at how flat it was. What was interesting for us, was how much land is devoted to rice. Our kids, 12 and 14 at the time, we just as amazed to see how flat things can be.

We actually saw some pretty neat things driving throught Iowa. Just had to have some fun with you!!
