Our cat just turned up 2,000 miles away!!
Some of you know that we found a kitten at our front gate a few weeks ago. The kids loved her and since we don't have any pets, it seemed like a good idea to have an outdoor cat. As an added bonus, we hoped she'd turn into a mouser and do her part in keeping the snakes away.
The kids named her socks because she has four white feet.
Thursday evening, the kids, Steph, Socks and I said good bye to my parents, who had been visiting us. That was the last time we saw her.
My parents left early that morning and never came outside. They just started the RV, and drove off while we waved. During the day, I noticed that Socks wasn't around and I became worried that she had died. We have all sorts of snakes here, and there are also allot of coyotes and a few bobcats. There is not limit to the number of predator that might have killed her.
Steph and the kids were heartbroken. We've made over a dozen searches for her, or at least some sign of her. We found all sorts of coyote tracks, but nothing else.
About half an hour ago, my Mom called and told me that they found Socks under their RV. They were just about home and had stopped to dump the holding tanks at a rest area. While hooking up the drain hose, they herd her meow. She was pretty scared, but otherwise, in perfect health. She had been under the RV, sitting on the drain pipes for the sewage system for almost 2,000 miles and 60 hours.
There's no way she could have eaten anything, or even had anything to drink during the entire trip, unless she climbed out during the night when they were stopped. If she did that, then she got back under it before they left in the morning. We just don't have any idea what she did, how she did it, or why she stayed there!!!!!
To say we're overwhelmed and in shock is an understatement. Steph cried and the kids cheered. It truly is an interesting life that cat has lived!!!!
