So I have a new controller for my front end loader a yanmar 336d . called my local yanmar dealer looking for replacement o' rings for the fittings on my old controller .was going to use them on the new one . bought the new controller from hoye. it lists the ports as in/out ports sae #8 o'ring and the same for the work ports . the fittings from valve to jic #6 to loader lift and curl hoses. and fitting from valve to jic #8 inlet and outlet fittings . well this is the third time I have called about parts with no response back . really they just must be that busy. I will just use some sort of sealant if o' rings are bad and hope for the best Monday I will try to find them on line . do you all think o' rings will be ok or just wasting my time . winters coming fast and need tractor for plowing out my camp. thank you bob .v. :confused2::confused2::confused2:

I guess I am not sure what you are looking for. You are looking for the orings for the #8 fittings? Any local industrial supply place should have those. I would not use sealant in place of the oring. Are you saying you have called us 3 times with no return call or your local Yanmar dealer?

As long as you don't get something special like air conditioning o-rings they should be just fine for what you are doing as long as you get the right size. The hyd fitting o-rings are usually a slightly harder rubber but I've always just used regular orings on my hydraulic fittings and have never had a problem.

Just FYI if you don't have a convenient local supplier, these folks usually ship very quickly, priority mail for small stuff .... Page with SAE ORB fitting O-rings (the fitting on 99% of FEL valves bodies).
Buna is good for down to -25*F if you live in a very cold climate, Viton is rated for higher temps rarely if ever seen with ag hydraulics but tends to get hard and (relatively) brittle below -5*F (I'd stick with Buna).
As mentioned, you definitely don't want to use some sort of sealant-hack in this application - a pinhole spray of hydraulic fluid under pressure is often difficult to see and a very dangerous thing that easily cuts clothing and skin doing great harm.

If it wasn't leaking they will probably be okay to reuse. I bought all three assortments (metric, SAE, and AC) from Harbor Freight and usually find one that will fit. I'm not opposed to using AC o-rings if they fit proud in the groove.

Many of these O rings in various places on these tractors are Japanese spec O rings...not even metric but a special size. Several I have had to get from Hoye cause I could not source any local even at big industrial parts houses.
I have pitched the idea to Hoye about making up an oring kit to sell. Something with all the common ones in there. Since I have their ear again with this post I will bring it up again!! Aaron, I know I would buy one if it was availible, the next order I had, nothing worse than not having one when you need it and your part guy is a 3 or 4 day delivery away!!!

You are correct! And no I am not confusing the issue other than for folks not following well. I know exactly what he needs and there talking about. But I am useing this thread and the fact that aaron has posted here to pitch my idea of a Yanmar specific O ring kit. But thank you for clarifying it for folks who may not be clear on the subject.
