When is the happy day? ..I am pretty anxious for you to get it and report back how you like it... I have 38 hours on the Kioti so far..

James K0UA

I am pretty anxious, too. Boy, you rack up the hours fast! Lucky!

I'm not sure yet. When the guy came to look at my tractor for a trade-in, it was after the dealership closed. The next day (Thursday) I dropped off my credit application on my way to work. He is supposed to call me at the next stage, and I assume I am going to have to sign some things before they'll start prepping "my" tractor my way. I expected to hear back from him Friday or Saturday, but didn't. I can't imagine there's a problem with my credit, and I know I can afford the payments. So I don't know what the holdup is or how long it's supposed to take.

Mine took forever after I said the "I do" sure is hard on a guy waiting and waiting. Then the guy came to the house and we signed the papers and he gave me some keys, and I still didn't have a tractor! Thankfully I still had the 'bota and racked up some hours on it. On the hours, yeah I am working on a project in the lower yard and they do rack up fast. I bought the recommended transmission/hydraulic fluid last week for the 50 hour,.. Woo. that was some bucks. My Kubota manual said transmission fluid change out was at 400 hours, but Kioti still want you to do it a 50. Anyway I am looking forward to you getting the new machine (I bet you are too!)

It's crazy how much that fluid costs.

I broke down and called the dealership today. Someone had misplaced my credit application! Anyway, they got that straightened out and delivery of my machine should be Thursday or Friday. :D :D

In the meantime I am getting all my brush hogging caught up so I can baby my new machine for a couple months. I am really excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is some loader/ratchet rake work I have been putting off until get the HST. Aaaahhhhh yeeaaahhhh

Oh man,, getting close:cool2: Yeah paid $216 for 15 gallons of the required fluid. I think you will find the Kubota SUDT to be even more. seems like I paid over $50 bucks for a 2.5 gallon bottle of that..Look in your manual but I think Kubota is still recommending first change at 400 hours. There is some controversy over that, as a lot of the guys are not trusting the Kubota engineers, and still changing at 50 hours. but I followed the manual, and just changed the 2 filters and the oil and filter for the engine. and the other routine servicing things. You are going to be like a kid in a candy store wanting to try out all of those buttons and knobs when it gets here.:D

Yes I am. I think the dealer said what you said in regard to the 50 hour service, and since they are including that as part of the deal I am sure that's all they will do. It does seem to me that it wouldn't be nearly as critical after break-in to change the hydraulic fluid compared to engine oil. I wish I had a nice big project like you to really rack up the hours when it gets here! I bet the Kioti is second nature to you already.

How many hours did you have on your Kubota when you traded it?

I'll have to make sure my new tractor meets MY expectations first! I'd hate to go up there and embarrass myself!

I think it was 128 or so. Yes I have been kinda busy building a pad for the Metal building I plan to house the Kioti! I am sure the Kubota will meet all your expectations and more.. It might take a few days to get used to the hydro and all the extra controls of HST+ but I bet you will like the heck out of it.

Well I didn't get a call today, so I assume the tractor will be delivered Friday, maybe this weekend. I finished most of my brush hogging and mowed the yard. I really wanted to see that hour meter roll over to 400. I also wanted to use up the full tank of fuel. Then I decided to go around the yard and pick up all the dead branches I pulled down yesterday and put them in the bucket, then haul them to a burn pile out back. I thought maybe I was getting greedy and had a paranoid feeling that something was about to go wrong with the tractor. Sure enough, I wasn't paying close enough attention and ran the ROPS into the eaves of my shed. Tore off a piece of wood but nothing I can't fix. Decided to park the tractor until my new one arrives -- can't have it throwing a rod or running out of oil or some other freak thing and messing up my trade-in!

Hey James, do you know how heavy your tractor is with loaded tires and FEL? I realized today that with loaded tires my new tractor will be 2,000 lbs heavier than my old one (new will weigh 6,000 lbs). I guess I've been slightly paranoid today that the weight is too much for the 37 hp. Can anyone tell me if this is a valid concern, or am I worrying over nothing?

My L3940 weights 3627# and FEL 1486#. I do not have loaded tires. Philip.

Do you have a copy of the Grand L series operators manual yet? Send me private e-mail and I will mail back to you. Philip.

I think your are probably worrying about nothing. Here is my tractor

Kl351 1057
DK40se 3700 Guess as weight is given at 3668 with Ag tires I have r4.
loaded tires 600 43x16-20 Guess cannot find in chart
Ballast box 750

Total 6107

You are probably right. I just remembered reading about someone on here who had an L3240 with loaded tires and a backhoe and I believe it was upwards of 7,000 lbs and the guy complained that it wasn't really enough power for that weight. Mine should be actually a little less than 6,000 lbs with loaded tires since antifreeze is lighter than Rimguard. And James I'd guess that your liquid ballast is closer to 1,000 lbs as the DK35 has larger tires than the L3540 IIRC. So if you can spin all four tires pushing into a pile with a full bucket, I should at least have enough power to cruise uphill in Med.

I can spin all 4 in MED pushing into my gravel pile. Not HI though, just grunts and goes into relief:laughing: I am not sure how much is in the rears. I cannot find the tires on the charts anywhere. And I had the dealer do it with Methanol. The tires are quit a bit bigger than I had on the 'bota. It does have a lot more push into a rockpile than the Kubota. It just has more traction with all that extra weight. No problem with power. I have been working the fill rock (0 to 6 inch) at about 1800 to 1900 rpm. no issues with lugging it down. Of course I use LO range for any actual pushing work. I find I can do a lot more in 2wd than I ever could with the L3400HST in 2wd..

I am looking sooo forward to it. I think I'm just getting last-second huge-purchase jitters. I'm sure I will be doing all sorts of experiments to see what it will do, pushing against trees, pulling hills in all ranges, how often do I need to use 4wd, hi-lo selector, etc. Gon' use a whole tank of fuel just playin!

I'm also happy to see (from the manual) that the 3540 (and even 3240) are spec'd to handle a six foot brush hog!

It looks like (yeah, you guys will be waking up in a few hours, but I work late! :)) the tractor weighs 3395, the loader weighs 1486, and the antifreeze will be about 850-900 lbs total. So that's 5831-5881, pretty close to what I was guessing. Should be fine, considering the manual states that liquid ballast can be used in conjunction with wheel weights! Yowza, how heavy could ya want?

Heavy is good when you have a full bucket (close to a 1/3 of a yard) of gravel onboard and you are running on a slope with it. I notice a difference in the "fear factor" with the 66 inch bucket I had on the L3400 and this Kioti with more lead in its pants. It feels less tippy, and that is a good thing:)
