I heard about an 855 for sale and would like any and all opinions on the price and attachments. It痴 a 4x4 and has 650 hours, Ag tires, and a 60 MMM. It also comes with (all Bush Hog) a 1845 qt loader with 60 bucket, 60 rear blade and a 48 rotary cutter.

The asking price is $10,200 and I have not seen it or have any pictures, but am told it is in good condition, needs nothing, has been serviced regularly and sleeps inside. Thanks

The 855 was one of Deere's best CUTs, IMHO.
Buddy of mine had his for...10, 12 years. Ran it mighty hard too.

So, price sounds right...if it's nice, I'd go for it.

If the condition is as described, the price seemed about right, though as the buyer, lower is always better. And from reading these boards it seems most would agree with you about the reliability of the 55 series.

What I'm most unsure about are the Bush Hog items, don't have a clue about the brand or how well the loader matches up to the machine.

I used to have an 855. We bought it brand new in 1987 for $14,700.00 w/ 60" Mid Mount Mower and Model 52 Loader w/60" Bucket. This machine Ran great for twelve years! I traded it in 1999, and got $12,700 towards a new John Deere 4200 when that came out. It only cost us $2000 to own that machine for 12 years!!!! That was the best trade going! When I traded it in it had 995 Hours on it. The machine gave us almost zero problems. Little things needed fixing once in a great while, and I mean very little things!

The only thing that would happen to me when using the tractor for cutting tall grass with the Bush Hog on a very dry day you had to clean your grill screen from time to time because it collect the clippings pretty fast and sometimes the red alert light would come on. But that really wasn't a problem at all.

This machine handled a 60" woods bush hog with ease. I really loved this machine. Of course there were times I wish the loader had more height clearance, but I had the older model #52 Loader, not the 70A Loader.

Check it out, I think you will like this machine if it still well maintained as you say. Also 600hours is quite young for an older model like this.

I say go for it....
