opinions on used B7100

Appreciate comments on a 1996 B7100HSD, 1 owner, 800 hours. Has 60" belly mower, 4WD, Hydrostatic. Asking price is $3900.
I have 6.6 acres with a 2 acre field that I need to maintain. Its fairly flat, only 3 trees. Its tall grass/hay.
I was looking at Lawn Tractors and read lots of horror stories. Thought something a little bigger (and diesel) might last longer and do more. Wouldn't mind the ability to have a plow or snow blower for the winter.

No doubt the B7100 can handle the job.
When adding attachments remember there no power steering.

The B7100 makes a terrific lawn mower. Add a loader and rear tiller and its all set.

Just remember to keep the rad clean and pay attention to the whistle if it's a hot day.

Will definitely do the job and have much more versatility than a lawn tractor. I take care of 6.9 acres with a B7300, don't know the difference from a B7100 but they look about the same size. I paid a little more than that without the bellymower so I think thats a good deal. I use a four ft. bush hog, four ft. box blade, four ft RFM, and dirt scoop and it does much more than I thought it would be able to. Bought mine, as you say, to keep the grass cut and now move dirt, level with the box blade etc. Would I like something bigger? Sure, but it will get the job done.

Can the belly mower handle tall grass, like 12 inches or more? Or does that require a bush hog?

I'd say no on the 12" grass with the 60" MMM. I have a '93 B7100, and it might cut it if cut real slow and if not too thick. Really depends on what the grass is. I've got Bahia on the back part of my property and I really have to slow down if it's only 6" high. Of course Bahia is kind of like limp wire. Just swirls around and doesn't cut well. Of course that price sounds pretty good if the unit is well taken care of.

Dryer the grass the better,raise mower deck high for first cutting go slow,wait day or two let grass sprung back up than lower mower deck have at it slow again.
