I'm looking at buying a skid to mainly run a mulching machine. Just curious how the Komatsu brand compares and holds up to others such as Cat and Bobcat? Thanks!

Assuming that you're going to a tracked unit, I wouldn't hesitate to go with either the ASV Inc. - Posi-Track Rubber Track Loaders SR-80 or RC-100. Two speed travel is a, IMO, big consideration too.
I have been extremely pleased with the performance of my rc-60 and one of these two should be replacing it this spring.

I've looked at the ASV and they are a great machine. The Komatsu is buit where I live so I get a much better price. Oh the decisions................

I am a new ASV dealer and have the RC-50, RC-60, SR-70 and SR-80 in inventory. The RC-100 will be here next week. I do know that most of the machines I see with the mulchers are ASV and primarily the RC-100.

Wow, these are very nice units.

Well to answer the question you actually asked...komatsu skids are nice. Very smooth. If you have good dealer support and dont mind not having a bobcat I wouldnt hesitate to buy one.

Hopefully, the new product line will work out well for you.
One of the decision factors I can't reach is about adding aux. hyd. cooling.
My thinking is that adding a mulcher would make it a "must have" item but my dealer doesn't think I will, even though he hasn't sold any of the combos!

Yes, good point. Should have prefaced my response better. I have not used, touched or looked at any Komatsu skids therefore.........:)

What does a SR70 or 80 cost and what kind of financing is available? I am researching getting a skid steer and the ASV's look very good.

Cant say i have ever operated a komatsu. I have operated a ton of bobcats, thomas, john deere and asv. But i have never operated anything (skid) that handles and performs like the cat 277 track loader with pilot controls, its unreal how nice this machine is!!

Friend of mine has a RC-100 and loves it. He is very happy with how it operates and performs. I got to play with it one day and tried to get him to leave it at my house. Didn't happen though. :(
