opinions on jd 214

I found a jd214 locally that is restored for around $1200. Are there any general opinions on this mower?

The 214 is a good solid machine. $1200 seems a bit stiff though. They were strictly gear drive with no hydrostatic options, although they did have a variable drive to give wide variety of ground speeds within each of the four forward gears. They had the good old dependable single cylinder Kohler engines.

you can't go wrong w/ the old jd 200/300 and even earlier 100 series tractors. well built and you can still get parts for them easily. i think that 1200 is a bit steep, for one but if its been totally gone over maybe not.

It has been gone through. It includes the mower deck, as well as a 5hp lawn vacuum system. I ended up getting it for $1025. Kind of spur of the moment, but I am not liking mowing my yard with the 3520. Maybe it will be okay. I have another post with pics, give it a look and let me know if I did okay.
