I have a gasoline fuel tank over at my barn and the 3/4" hose from the pump to the nozzle, I noticed over the weekend, has a hole in it and it's spraying out when the pump is turned on. I have a hydraulic shop close to my place and was wondering if I could have them make me up a replacement hose using a regular hydraulic hose rather than buy a specific gasoline hose. Is there something special about a gasoline hose other than maybe it's more flexible? Thanks in advance for your opinions. RRM
P.S. anyone know of a good place to get a gasoline hose made to a certain length at a reasonable price?

Even all gasoline hose is not necessarily appropriate. I have learned that old neoprene hose is not compatible with the ethanol in newer gasoline blends. There is a newer type of neoprene out which is fine for ethanol blends. Ethanol breaks the older neoprene down. Be sure whatever hose you select is compatible with newer fuels.

"Maybe" a fuel hose has the ends connected to the steel hose braid for grounding. Could be very important, especially with gasoline!

I had checker plate housing made to cover my pump/meter and hose to keep the sun off them. Another one, I covered the hose in that cheap sump pump discharge hose. Hate, loosing hoses to the sun and weather.

Good advise. Never thought about the Ethanol situation. My diesel fuel tank hose has been on there for years. Maybe something to that Ethanol idea. Thanks. RRM

I'd assume hydraulic hose would be a lot heavier, less flexible & more expensive than fuel hose. One is designed for 3,000+ psi, the other probably tops out at 100-300psi or so. I'd assume working pressures are a lot lower than that. Just guessing my gravity diesel tank gets up to 5psi or so at worst case scenario. Flow from that isn't to far off a gas pump.

Most farm supply stores like Atwoods or Tractor Supply have those hoses already made up.

Just make sure is listed as being compatible for gasoline. As was said, a gasoline rated hose will most likely have something to connect the ground from the tank to the nozzle, that way you can't get static built-up to cause an explosion.

Well I took a drive to Rural King and sure enough Jesse1 was correct. They had regular fuel lines made up with the fittings already crimped on the ends. Said on the packaging that it was good for diesel and ethanol gasoline up to E-15. Bought a ten footer. Twenty eight bucks out the door. Can't beat that. Never knew they sold hose like that. Thanks again guys. RRM
