Hey everyone! I luckily stumbled upon this web site in my most needed hours of tractor consideration and seem to have found a large amount of reasonable and knowledgeable folks. Thanks. I believe that I have narrowed my search to the BX2200 simply because it has and can do everything I need it to do w/ all the available impliments. My only problem is the price. I know I'm not alone (especially considering the wife does not understand that a lawn tractor could possibly cost as much as a car). I have been looking for about six months at new and used tractors all over New England and eveything seems either to under powered to small or to big. I have about two acres of strictly grass as well as a pond a stream and slightly wooded area and a 50 yd. driveway so, I need a machine w/ quite a bit of versitility. Anyway, I got a quote for $1539.00 aprox. w/ a loader, 60" mid-mount, and the rear bagger and am undecided about tires. I am probably going to get this machine but would appreciate any advice since it's hard to find here in a suburban/urban area on the Ma/RI boarder. I apologize being long winded but wanted to get the boring story out. Thanks and Happy New Year to all, Jeff.

Tires; Figure out which job the tractor will be most used for and then base your decision on that. Remember one can always add chains for specific jobs.

Jeff,

I just purchased a BX2200 with a FEL, 60" MMM, and a grill guard for $12,200 from a local dealer who delivered it for free. However, I also talked to Steve Carter from Carver Equipment. I would suggest e-mail them and getting a quote. I think it is worth the time because if your local dealer won't come down, I am sure Steve will be happy to help (with a good price). Happy New Year.

Did you mean $15,390.00?
Actually the BX is VERY well priced for what it is. I have a ZD21, and spend only $1000. less than a BX.
That extra $1000 gets you a Tractor, headlights, hydro-Power steering, 4WD, 3PH, loader capabilty, pulling capability...
When you think about it, you think Darn, why whould anyone NOT buy a BX?
The BX is ALOT of tractor for around 10K.

boner-- i been thinkin the same thing!! now we both know these zd-21's are grass eatin' machines, but i'm seriously thinking about tradin in on a bx or maybe that new cub. ain't that thing sweet? but every time i get to thinkin real hard about tradin, i walk out to the garage and sit there and remember how fast and nicely i mowed my yard last summer

Jeff, your post is hardly long compared to most of mine. You did not mention snow--that could impact your tire choice, actually I would just get the bar tires and not worry about it. Price seems decent. Why the bagger?--you will find the BX does not wind row badly and from an environmental stand point leaving the clippings is best. Forget the bagger and get a rear blade for pushing snow or a rear snow blower or a tiller or something useful other than a mobile garbage can--you asked for opinions--from me you get'em.
It sounds like the BX is perfect for you. Be sure to register and join in with pics and news and of course as I am still the BX Cult leader you will need to pay proper homage--this usually consists of a toast with orange Koolaid and a wax job on your soon to be new BX.
Goodluck and enjoy and welcome to TBN.

Madhouse,
I am thinking the same thing! I may swap my ZD21 for a new BX or B7500. Those ZD21 machines are real grass cutting machines but cannot be used for anything else. How much more time do you think it will take me to cut 3 acres with a B7500 over the ZD21 both with 60" decks?

same scenario, same question!! we made an offer however, on another home, with 9 acres and pole barn, 3 acres in hay, and on and on, so i'm gonna' need a tractor if this deal goes through. i have NO complaints at all on the zd, but, jon, like you said, it's cut grass and that's it!
