For those of you who have installed temperature gauges on your tractors, what are the normal operating temps for equipment under no load, & med- heavy load. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Thanks for the help in advance.

Most " no load" operating temperatures are in the 160 to 180 temps range . It would depend on your "temp setting" of the thermostat in your machine, because no matter what the time of year your thermostat will not open until it hits it's predetermined set temperture .
I would think that average "under load temp" should be about 190-195 degrees or so . Of course, winter or summer usage will make this temperature vary .

My YM2000 runs around 140 - 150 when working some dirt around. I cant say that I have found a thermostat yet.

My YM2000B, (factory gauge), only has markings, and only barely gets to the 25% mark unless the radiator screen gets filled with trash from mowing. They don't have thermostats.

"Normal" operating temperature will depend on what tractor you have. So far as I know, none of the YM series Yanmar tractors have thermostats. If you happen to have one of the older YM series tractors such as the YM1100, 1300, 1500, 1600, 1700 (and maybe the 1900) the operating temperature can be higher since these tractors don't have water pumps. The warning light is supposed to come on at 238 I think.

What tractor model do you have?

itcametopass,

I am not sure about your 2210 (I would think it has a waterpump), but I have a 1700 and it does not have a waterpump. Seeing as how we are only a few miles apart; our weather conditions would be the same. I was out grading the driveway yesturday (in the 50's / thermosyphon with winter mix) and never got over 180 (not much of a load). Back in the summer (70 percent water / 30 percent coolant) while finish mowing several acres (in the 90's with a load sometimes) it would run anywhere from 190 to 215. I installed a gauge set (temp/oil/volt) and keep an eye on them. Hope this helps neighbor!

My 1500D runs:
Summer, cutting 4 acres with flail mower here in Georgia, tops out about 215....but usually runs 200-210. This time of year, or in the evenings when it is cool it runs about 190 max.
I run about 80% distilled water with 20% antifreeze, and have about a pint of Water Wetter in there just to keep things cooler in the summertime

It is a 2210. There is no thermostat. It does have a water pump. Just want to make sure I'm not asking too much of it & running it too hot.

At what temp are your warning lights comming on at? I have mine comming on at 215 with a moderate loan in cool weather.
