I had a tree crew out several weeks ago and just happened to have my battery Stihl with me...

The guys gave it a try and admitted better than thought but consensus is too heavy... we didn't get into run time.

Maybe 30" battery saws are in the works?

I am far from being green, but my 58v Echo runs longer than I can. I've got 2 batteries.

It has a 16" bar, so that could be bigger. Certainly not a replacement for big ones for commercial loggers, but not the toy some think.

Mandates are moronic for something like this. Technology will give us the options and the market will respond. The motor is less hassle than a gas engine. No smell and quieter, too. Still needs chain oil though.

Yeah! I have a DeWalt 60V. It’ll cut, but the limitations on battery life and the build quality compared to a much faster & more powerful gas saw are beyond obvious.
Great for occasional, sporadic work though.

All this nonsense….well some of it is good, so it’s not ALL nonsense but is it going to collapse under its own weight?
Why not just make all homeowner power tools electric and let up working people, farmers, ranchers, contractors keep our big boy pants tools?

OH wait, it gets better.
While your chain saw battery is charging, you can take your EV pickup into town, a 30 mile trip one way, and hope you can have enough battery to get back home again.

I'm no fan of EV cars or trucks, but they get 150-250 miles of range. Plug in hybrids are a much better alternative for many purposes. You get the best of both worlds. It will be another year or so before Toyota starts selling that truck, though.

Besides, you just use your other battery while one charges. There are plenty of good arguments for some people to use gas tools, but if battery life is your problem, you just bought the wrong brand.
