One more chance for John Deere

I'm not sure how big a brush you are cutting, but I'm not afraid to cut green limbs up to an inch with my diesel front mount zero turn Grasshopper 725.

It just grinds the limbs up, along with all the tall grass...

From what I have seen, Ventrac's aren't reliable enough for me to put my hard earned dollars down for one...

I would cut it with what ever you have one time and clean it up. Afterwards a front mount mower of your choice should work fine. Don't let it grow up and get out of hand is the sensible solution. A good mower deck can handle the occasional small branches.

I'm trying to solve two problems so that limits the equipment choices. Mowing under fruit trees, and mowing on slopes steep enough where I don't want to take my CUT or SCUT.

I ordered a Ventrac catalog today. I was told their dealer will do on-site demos; however, my closest dealer is more than 100 miles away. Hmmm. Also need to check out Power Trac and my estimation is that their web site is terrible-- I can't tell which model I might be interested in or would fit my needs.

I don't think a Deere X7XX would meet my needs although its a great platform that would do many other jobs around the property. The combination of comparably short wheelbase, mid mount mower, etc. would make it nearly as improbable for mowing steep slopes as my Husqvarna GT48DXLS. If I buy a Ventrac, it will be the dual wheel model.
