One handed pocket knife

When I was a kid I was fascinated by my father's butterfly knife that he brought home from the Phillipines. It had a dark steel blade and dark wood handles. He let my use it from time to time. When I got married, I bought two of these for camping. One for me and one for my wife.

The Nylon handle was light and comfortable and they are extremely easy to open with one hand. We still have them 20 years later. Mine is pretty worn from use, but the wife's is still in mint condition.

I got pretty good at opening it quickly, but not this good. ;)

Dargo, The mini-Rukus is as fine a knife as you could have from a factory. The full size Rukus will be mine in the next 6 months. George Tichbourne is making me a nice little neck knife right now but after that will come the Rukus.:D

I have, or had, a full sized Rukus as well. My son in the Army seems to have confiscated it from me at the present time. Oh well, did I say I like the mini? :D

ANy single hand opening knife i have to open with my left hand. As noted, a lot of knives arnt accommodating to this. So when i look at pocket knifes, the first thing i do is move it to my left hand and see how it feels. 70% of the time the knife "fails".

But the reality is, between my leatherman and utility knife blade version, those are the 2 i always have on me. ive customized my utility blade version a bit to lighten it up a bit. I perfer it for cutting boxes, string, cloth, bags etc. The disposable blade means its easy for me to keep sharp and thats the most important thing about a pocket knife.

It could be the neatest, coolest, lightest knife out there. but if it isnt sharp, you might as well carry a rock around in your pocket. (just my .02)

Me too. That's why I favor the butterfly style... ambidextrous. If I am forced to open it with my right hand, I can. :)
